How To Free Yourself From The Expectations Of Society

"Magic happens when you can free yourself from the expectations of society" - Kayla Pickering

At some point in our lives, we have all been guilty of doing things in life because they are expected of us. Not leaving the house without make-up when you are just going to the grocery store. Following what your friends are doing so you will be "excepted" instead of doing what you want to do. Saying yes to everything instead of the things that align with you. Working a job that looks good on paper vs what will make you feel fulfilled. Wearing clothes that are "IN" right now instead of what makes you feel good. Not speaking up for fear of what others will think of you. Spray tanning so you are tan like the girls on Instagram. Editing your photos so you look like the other girls on Instagram who also edited their photos. Do you see where I am going here?

I was that girl...with all of those examples until one day well over time I stopped doing all of that and started following what I wanted. Doing what made me happy instead of what others wanted of me. I started wearing all of the 70's clothes that made me so happy even though others did not dress that way. I stopped taking random classes at a college just to tell my family I was in school at the time. I stopped wearing make-up, tanning, and dying my hair. I started speaking up. Listening to my own intuition and from it, I wrote a book even though I once thought I was not a good writer. I stopped listening to what I thought society wanted me to be and started being what I came here to be.

Guess what happened? My entire life changed in the best way possible. I wrote a book, I followed my heart and through that, I found my dream job, made the most incredible friendships, found my community, moved to Australia, married the love of my life, and became a mother. All because I finally stopped living my life based on what others wanted me to do.

Now let's get to YOU! Steps on how YOU can start living your life without the expectations of society.

This is where I want you to really look at your life. Are you happy? I mean are you truly happy?

1. Make a list. Write down all of the aspects of your life and what you would change. Who are you living for? Yourself or others? Do you make decisions based on making others happy? BIG RED FLAG right there.

2. If you could start over what would you do? What would you want to change? Write it down.

3. Imagine yourself as that person with that new life. You CAN be that person. It takes standing up to people, letting go of people who do not support you, setting boundaries, listening to your own intuition. This can be a very lonely time going through this transformation but I promise it will be worth it.

4. What do you need to do to make these new aspects of your life a reality? Journal about it. Journal about this new life and visualize it. I truly believe in the power of hard self-work with manifesting. This is a process and it won't happen overnight but it is possible.

Each human is unique and needs something different. We all have different things to work on. If you are wanting extra support on how to make this reality please reach out to me. This is what I do for a living and I LOVE IT! I have gone against the grain. I know how hard it is but I also know how possible it is. Schedule your free 30-minute discovery call with me. Share your list with me and in the call, we will work on one of the things you want to change and how to change it.
